Simultaneously, Buenavista-Cigaras Elementary School holds its School-based kick-off ceremony of Brigada Eskwela 2023 with the District Kick-off on Buenavista Integrated National High School. The first day started with the cleaning of Luna Building, Teresita Building and Carino Building (School Canteen). The first day was filled with 282 volunteers. These volunteers also did weed of each garden. Cleaning of the pathways, pruning and removing of tall grasses and plants were done by twenty-five (25) Barangay Buenavista 4Ps members. In the afternoon 6 volunteers from Bureau of Fire Prevention department came to help in trimming the trees’ branches in the school they were headed by FO3 Jessa D. Sapiter together with SF01 Brayan Banatlao and SF01 Edrick Randel Arocena. He leaded the cleaning of the remaining outside garden and the removal of crawling vines in the pence. The volunteers of today’s activity were also BCES parents and guardians with a total of two hundred twenty-three (223) and all in all the volunteers were two hundred eighty two (282) volunteers for today’s Brigada Eskwela.
Day 2 – August 15, 2023 Tuesday
The second day of the BE 2023 had a jumpstart activity coming from the Social Livelihood Office (SLO) of the provincial governor’s office headed by then former school principal of BCES and former mayor of Magdalena municipal Mrs. Nieva S. Reodica with her team that offered seminars on creating opportunities for the parents/guardians. The SLO also offered a seminar workshop to give work opportunities at home – the seminar includes dishwashing making, fabric conditioning making and basahan making. The SLO hopes to provide opportunities to parents/ guardians to earn money at the comfort of their homes. The total numbers of participants for today’s school maintenance activity which cleaned the following main building (Multi-purpose building, 3Ps Building, HE/SPED building and the 2021 School Building *Maam Zy) were composed of participants from parents and guardians of 261, 7 alumni, forty-eight private individuals and organizations, 10 provincial officers/employees, 6 barangay officials, and 19 other volunteers with a total three hundred fifty six (356) volunteers. Day 3 – August 16, 2023 Wednesday The third day of BE2023 started again with the clean up of the surroundings of the school, including the clearing of the garden beside the principal’s office with the fifty-four (54) members of the 4Ps of Barangay Cigaras and one hundred fifty-nine (159) parents and guardian help one another to clean the Gulayan sa Paaralan near the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) Building, the cleaning in Filipino and Pagsikat Garden were facilitated Samahan ng Natibidad ni Maria spearheaded by Mrs. Christine Lao-Criste – the youth and/or youth serving church organization with 12 members made sure to clean the surroundings of the Pagsikat Garden. After cleaning the garden, the SNM volunteers prepared rice porridge which were then distributed to National Learning Camp pupils. There were 106 CRLA beneficiaries and 86 RMA pupils who benefited from this activity. Today’s volunteers were composed of two-hundred-thirty-six parents/guardians, five alumni, 62 private individuals and organizations, 12 members of religious groups, eight barangay officials with 6 SK members with, and 22 other volunteers with a total of three- hundred sixty-four (364) volunteers. Day 4 – August 17, 2023 Thursday Volunteers come together in different places, organizations and institutions to help the redeemed the readiness of the school for the upcoming limited face to face classes this coming August 17, 2023. First on the list are the representatives of 4Ps Brgy. Cigaras they help clean the facilities and the back parts of the school building. There were six (6) representatives from NGO, two-hundred-thirty-one (231) from the parents and twenty-eight (28) from the private sectors. All of these industrious and generous volunteers went up cleaning all the remaining unclean parts of the HE Building and the Make-shift buildings. Another seminar was offered among the parents/guardians by the Provincial Population Office which gave a helpful guide to responsible parenting – facilitated by Ms. Arlene G. Mercado – head of provincial population office. Simultaneously, Sir Jordan Jimenez, started cleaning the growing molds in the pathways inside the school, these molds started growing as the rain started pouring heavily for the past weeks. He started cleaning the path walk in front of the PAGSIKAT Garden and ICT Building. Meanwhile group of youth from Brgy. Cigaras headed by Ms. Angelou Reyes cleaned the remaining unattended dirt from Pagsikat and Filipino Garden. Accumulated number of participants from today’s activity were three-hundred-eight (308) volunteers, mostly participated by parents/guardians followed by private individuals and organizations and lastly by pupils.
Day 5 – August 18, 2023 Friday
Tedious and united efforts continue on the last day of Brigada Eskwela in Buenavista- Cigaras Elementary School, it started as the former barangay chairman of Brgy. Buenavista – Mr. Efren Pili together with his group Highway Marshall Group continued clearing the classrooms from 4Ps building and the Marcos Type building by bringing out armchairs and desk outside for repainting. Consequently, a group of young men from Brgy. Buenavista headed by Mr. Jericho Esquibel repainted desks and armchairs from the ICT Room. Meanwhile some youth did polish the floor by applying floor wax. Luckily, Lions Club Pintong Pilak chapter headed by its president Mrs. Hilda A. Tapongot, came in with school supply donations, after which they hurdle down and join the rest of the volunteers in the cleaning activity. Just in, Mrs. Lorna A. Virtucio – one of the heads of Rural Bank of Magdalena came in as well, with school supply donations too. Capping this year’s volunteers from Day 1 to 5, all in all BCES was participated by one- thousand-seven-hundred-and -nineteen volunteers. In the afternoon, Sir Jordan Jimenez continued cleaning the path walks and get rid of the molds. Group of men from the parents continued cutting, pruning and trimming the unwanted tree branches. Afterwards, the closing ceremony started and each of the committee in the Brigada Eskwela were recognized by Dr. Bonifacio S. Togado – the school principal along with this year’s BE Chairman Mr. Wilmer R. Lebria.
