CONTRACTOR
Description: (include any Safety or Environmental Impact)
Reference to voltage drop calculation for the fire training ground project, EPC has found that
the current voltage drops for the main cable feeder 4C x 185mm2, as following:
EPC have taken further steps to calculate the voltage drop if the upgrade option can be
considered to cable size to be 4C x 240mm2, and got the following results:
In both cases, and even with considering various optimizations for routes and internal
voltage drop within the ground itself, the two results conflicted with the Vendor of the Fire
area ground Probs power supply requirements.
Affected Disciplines:
HSE Process Plot Plan Mechanical Instrument x Electrical Piping Civil/Structure
Recommended Solution:
EPC recommended using a redundancy diesel generator at the field, this shall cover the
required kW for the project and limit the voltage drop.
The Diesel Generators power supply system shall consist of the following items:
One (1) Continuous and One (1) Standby Diesel Generators, in total Two (2) Gen
with sufficient capacity to cover the project requirements with 20% of Spare KVA
while considering all the power factors and other losses.
One (1) Diesel Tank and filling requirements.
All Civil Works and Foundations requirements.
The shelter requirements over the DGs and Tank.
Fire extinguishers and safety signs.
Distribution board and electrical system requirements with the required cables to
supply the main ground DB.
Earthing and Lightning protection systems.
Proposed Location:
We are proposing using the area between the training ground and the east road as this area
is currently not utilized for any purpose while providing accessibility to Diesel tank through
the closest roads to two sides.
Area is also considered close to the ground utility area which will minimize the voltage drop
significantly.
