The fuselage is an all metal semimonocoque structure consisting of three basic sections. The nose section extends
from the radome to the forward pressure bulkhead at FS 71.65 (1820). The cockpit/cabin sections extend from the
forward pressure bulkhead to the aft pressure bulkhead at FS 322.44 (8190). The aft fuselage (tail section) extends
aft of the aft pressure bulkhead.
The nose section encompasses the radome, nose landing gear wheel well and avionics compartment. The fuselage
middle section includes the cockpit and cabin and is the pressurized area of the fuselage. The main landing gear
bays and center fuel tank are located below the cabin. The aft fuselage (tail section) has provisions for hydraulic,
fuel, flight control and electrical system components.
The cabin section is oval shaped with a major axis of 72.6 in. (184.4 cm) and a minor axis of 65.9 in. (167.4 cm).
The cabin entrance door is located on the left side of the fuselage and the emergency exit door is located on the
right. Refer to Chapter 52 for description and maintenance of the doors. Windshield and windows are framed and
sealed in the cockpit and along each side of the cabin. For information concerning the windshield and windows, refer
to Chapter 56.

nose landing gear doors.
c. Access to the cockpit and cabin compartments is through the entrance door. Emergency egress from the cabin
is through the emergency escape hatch.
d. Access to the middle fuselage is through the access doors, access panels and main landing gear doors. The
middle fuselage access panel and the fuel filter access doors are located on both sides in the lower aft portion
of the middle fuselage. The fuel drain valve doors, attach fitting access panels and mid fuselage fuel cell access
panels are located on the center lower aft portion of the middle fuselage.
e. Access to the aft fuselage compartment is through the aft fuselage door. Access to the interior of the aft fuselage

a. Make sure retainer ring and valve diaphram are free of oil or grease (Ref. Figure 201). Clean if necessary.
b. Using adhesive (4, Chart 1, 53-00-00) or equivalent, attach the retainer ring to the valve diaphram.
NOTE: Beechcraft recommends Steps c. through f. be completed with two people (one inside and one outside the
fuselage).
c. Insert two long lengths of safety wire upward through the drain rivet holes and between the auxiliary fuel tanks.
d. Thread the safety wire through the corresponding holes in the retainer/valve assembly. Form a closed loop at
the top of each length safety wire.
f. From beneath the fuselage, carefully pull down on both strands of safety wire as the person inside the fuselage
guides the retainer/valve assembly down between the auxiliary fuel tanks.
h. Pull upwards on the strands of safety wire attached in Step d. to remove the safety wire from between the fuel
tanks and into the cabin. Use of safety wire is complete.
i. Install six wet-sealed blind rivets to secure the retainer/valve assembly in place (Ref. Chapter 51-41-00, Model
400/400A Structural Repair Manual).
