PLUMBING SYSTEM
Plumbing is de ned as the art and science of installing pipes, xtures and
other apparatus to convey and supply water in buildings and to dispose and
discharge waste water and other liquids, gases and other substances out of
buildings in a safe, orderly, healthy and sanitary way to ensure the health
and sanitation of life and property.
The system of pipes, valves, xtures and other apparatus of a water supply
or sewage system.
All plumbing design and installation are governed by a set of rules and
limitations prescribed by the National Plumbing Code.
1. Fast removal of the waste with a minimum probability of leakage and stoppage of drains
2. To prevent the entry of house vermin and obnoxious gases into the house from the piping system
CHAPTER O5
The choice of the kind of pipe to be installed, depends upon the following consideration.

1. Choose the table based on the pressure ranger where the net pressure at the water meter will fall.
2. Select the length column which is equal to or greater than the required length.
3. Follow down the column to a xture unit value equal to or greater than the total number of xture units required
by the installation.
Note: No building water service pipe shall be less than 19mm in Diameter.
COMPUTE THE NET PRESSURE AT Pstatic = Pressure loss due to elevation change
THE WATER METER Pstatic = 9.79 kPa x h
h = Elevation of the remote xture
P = Pave − Pstatic Pave = Service Pressure at the Main (Water District)
P = Lowest possible pressure in the building

The Sanitary Sewer is a public sewer facility that carries regular sanitary wastes only. It terminates in a modern
sewage dispersal plant. Rainwater is not permitted to enter into this type of public sewer.
The Storm Drain is another kind of public sewer line that carries storm water. It terminates in a natural drain such
as canals, lakes or river.
