OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER : An operational amplifier or (in short an op amp) is a direct
coupled high gain amplifier usually consisting of one or more differential amplifiers and is
usually followed by a level transmitter and an output stage . An op amp is available as a
single integrated circuit package.
WHAT IS AN AMPLIFER ?

An amplifier is an electronic device that increases the voltage,

current, or power of a signal. Amplifiers are used in wireless
communications and broadcasting, and in audio equipment of all
kinds
WHAT DOES DIRECT COUPLE
MEAN ?
A direct-coupled amplifier or DC amplifier is a type of amplifier in
which the output of one stage of the amplifier is coupled to the
input of the next stage in such a way as to permit signals with zero
frequency, also referred to as direct current, to pass from input to
output.
WHAT IS A DIFFERENTIAL
AMPLIFIER?
A differential amplifier is a type of electronic amplifier that
amplifies the difference between two input voltages but
suppresses any voltage common to the two inputs. It is an analog
circuit with two inputs and and one output in which the output is
ideally proportional to the difference between the two voltages.

OP AMPS AND ITS USES :

The Operational Amplifier is a versatile device that can be used

to amplify dc as well as ac input signals .
It is used in performing mathematical operations like addition ,
subtraction , multiplication and integration . Thus the name
stems from its use for these mathematical operations.
The modern day op amp can be used for a variety of applications
such as ac and dc signal amplification , active filters , oscillators ,
comparators ,regulators and others.
