Effectiveness

1
Introduction

Is technology in the classroom effective?

Should each grade level incorporate technology?

Does 1:1 computing make a difference?

Let’s find out!

2
Research Findings

1) Effectiveness
- Depends on many different variables
- Teachers need to have good practices before
- Ex. A teacher can’t expect technology to teach for them. They can’t play a video and
expect students to learn everything they need and have no questions.

2) Grade Levels
- Every level should use technology
- Can generate knowledge for all ages
- Ex. A first grade teacher can use technology to help students engage in their learning
with fun games. A high school teacher can use technology to engage students with
videos.

3
Learning

Effectiveness
- Effective if used correctly
- Effective if used to full capacity
- Ex. Mind mapping wouldn’t be effective if a teacher didn’t know how to use it or didn’t
know how to explain it to his/her students.

Grade Levels
- Each grade level can use technology
- Web Quests can be made for any subject and any level
- Ex. You can make a webquest about insects for First graders and you can make a
webquest about spanish culture for high schoolers. Both would be acceptable ways of
incorporating technology.

4
Opinion/Experiences

Effectiveness
- Depends on how the teacher uses it
- Ex. My High school Comp teacher was really good at incorporating technology into our
presentations, but my first high school spanish teacher was not so great at
incorporating technology because she expected us to know how to do everything.

1:1 Computing
- 1:1 computing is very helpful
- Easier to complete tasks
- More time to explore/experience technology
- Ex. I felt a lot more capable when it came to technology when my school got 1:1
computing. I was able to spend more time on figuring things out rather than cramming
projects in during 40 minutes sections.
5
Conclusion

Technology is effective if used correctly!

Every grade level should incorporate technology!

1:1 computing is only the first step!
