cultural and sociopolitical processes in human evolution that can still be used and developed Simulation activity: • Let us imagine our earth in the future. What if in that future our natural environment is totally used up or destroyed in the name of progress. No more trees, water streams, oceans, clean air and organic food. How do you think humans would adapt given this scenario? Bio-cultural and social evolution group activity • Form four groups in the class. Each group will be assigned with one topic ( biological, cultural, social, political evolution) for their discussion. • The starting point of the discussion is that humans Must Survive despite the destruction of their natural environment. To understand the context of this activity, please do watch the movie Wall-E, the maze runner, it would give a glimpse of the future and the fate of man as imagined by writers and film directors of these movie Biological evolution group • What would you think will happen to the animals and other biological organisms? What species will survive and will not? What will be its effects to our food chain? What do you think man will consume? Add other scenarios. Cultural evolution group • Would you think music religion, fashion and the likes matter in that future? What values would be important for human? Do you think we will look and sound the same? Are we going to be born? Add other scenarios. Social evolution group • Are we going to compete aggressively for food and for other basic needs and then hate and eliminate other people in the process? Will we become a loner or group dependent? Will there be schools, church, associations, governments? How would they function? Add other scenarios. Political evolution • What kind of leaders do we have in that future dictator, charismatic, human/robotic/artificial intelligence? Will there be still be an election? Will having constitution still relevant? What about opposition, protest and political criticism – are these going to be tolerated? Add other scenarios. Differentiated outputs: • Each group can choose the manner and mode of presentation. It could be PowerPoint presentation, a music video, a short play, a short film or any form for as long as it is the consensus of the group.
