What is Force?
• Force is a push or a pull.
• Examples include:
• Wind pushing a flag
• A magnet pulling iron towards it
What is Net Force?
• The combination of all the forces acting
on an object is the net force.
+ + + = ?
What is the Net Force?
+ + + = ?
What happens when the net
force is zero?
• When the net force is zero, the object
DOESN’T MOVE.
Answer
Any time the net force is not zero, the object
moves.

Question 3
Explain Newton’s first law of motion.
Answer
The first law says that when the net force
acting on an object is zero an object already
in motion will tend to stay in motion and one
at rest will tend to stay at rest.

1.The cable shown, support a
load of 600 lb. Determine the
tensile force T in the cable and
compressive force C in the
boom.
12. Determine the values of P
and F to maintain equilibrium
of the forces.
3. The five forces shown are in
equilibrium. Compute the
values of P and F.
