HYDRO PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

1. WATER DISTRIBUTION TO BUILDINGS
 Normally, Water supply from Under-Ground Tank (UGT) to

11/11/2019
the Over Head Tank (OHT) with the help of Pump.

 Water Distribution from the OHT to the fixtures in the

buildings which uses the gravity to send the water.

2. WHAT IS HYDRO PNEUMATIC SYSTEM?
 Hydro - Water.
 Pneumatics - Filled with Air.

11/11/2019
Why?
 To maintain the constant pressure in the water pipes inside the
buildings.

 These systems allow the liquid to flow at the proper pressure and
flow, regardless of the distance to which the equipment and devices
that demand water are located.
Principle:
 Compressibility or elasticity of Air when it is subjected to

pressure.

10. DRAWBACKS OF THIS SYSTEM
1. In the building, every time anyone opened a tap for

water or used water in the bathroom, the pumps got

switched on. It started and stopped almost every 2
seconds.

2. Any pump takes higher current to start up (6 to 7 times

more than stable operation) and since the pumps were
starting very frequently, the electricity consumption
was very high.
