OBJECTIVE
• To investigate the compressive strength of concrete with cow dung
ash .

• To prepare high strength eco friendly and cost effective concrete.

• To evaluate the significance of consumption of the waste material for

manufacturing of sustainable concrete for construction.

INTRODUCTION
• Cement, main binder for production of concrete, mortar, sand crete
blocks.

• Cement is expensive as well as being environmental problems.

• For supplementary cementitious materials, cow dung can be used at

certain amount.

• Cement can be replaced by cow dung ash as 6%,8%,10%,12% and

14%.
11/04/20 4
SCOPE OF THE STUDY
• Examine the effectiveness of using cow dung ash as a study will be
conducted on strength parameter.

• Necessity of the waste material for manufacturing of sustainable

concrete.

• Material is locally available and reduce cost of concrete.

• To overcome the emissions of gases like carbon-dioxide, nitrogen oxide.

MATERIALS USED IN ANALYSIS

1.Cement
• Ordinary port land cement 53 grade used.

2.Fine aggregate
• Fine aggregates which can pass through 4.75mm IS sieve were used.

3.Coarse aggregate
• Crushed store aggregate of 20mm size was used.

4.Water

Water should be clean and free from oil, alkali, acid 6
MATERIALS USED IN ANALYSIS
5. Super plasticizer
• To impart additional workability a super plasticizer
CERAPLAST 300 was used.

6. Cow dung ash

• Exposed to sunlight; burn to get ash; ash stored in an air tied
container.

7. Glass fiber
• Glass fiber with modulus of elasticity 74gpa.

METHODOLOGY
• Specific gravity of cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate are
tested.

• Sieve analysis done as per IS 2386 (part 1)-1963.

• Consistency of cement is done to determine the standard water

requirement for setting time.

• Initial and final setting is done to determined consistency of concrete.

CONTD…
• Slump test and compaction factor test conducted to determine the
workability of concrete as per IS 456-2000.

• The curing was allowed until the date of testing for 7th ,14th, 28th days.

• Compressive strength were conducted on specimens having size

150*150mm and the average strength was taken as the compressive
strength of concrete.

CONCLUSIONS
• The replacement of cement with cow dung ash 6% and 8% leads to
increase in compressive strength.

• Maximum strength is attained at 8% cow dung ash and 0.5% of glass

fiber, after the strength starts decreasing thus the optimum content is
8%.

• Workability of concrete decrease with increase of cow dung ash and

glass fiber.
