ENGINE
Engine: An engine is a machine designed
to convert one form of energy into
mechanical energy.

Heat Engine: A heat engine is a device

which transforms the chemical energy
of the fuel into thermal energy and uses
this energy to produce mechanical work.

• Slow-Speed Engines means diesel engines having a
rated speed of less than 400 rpm.

• Medium Speed Engines diesel engines having a rated

speed of 400 rpm or more; but, approximately less than
1200 rpm.

• High-Speed Engines means diesel engines having a

rated speed of approximately 1200 rpm or more.
