Biased listening - hears only what they want to hear,
misinterpreting what the other person says
Evaluative listening - seek to assess
the truth of what is being said

appreciate
- which helps meet our needs and goals
Sympathetic listening - concern and pay close attention
Empathetic listening - seek a truer understanding on how
others are feeling
Therapeutic listening - deep connection to help the speaker
understand, change or develop
Dialogic listening - learning through conversation and an engaged
interchange of ideas and information
Relationship listening - to develop or sustain a relationship
