INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT

The Rio is a commercial project at Las vegas, Nevada challenging the tough
competetion for the hotel-mall-casino demand at the las vegas strip. The Rio
was the first all suite mall casino in the Las Vegas area. the rio setting a
benchmark for the contemprary design for a H-M-C at las vegas.
It is owned by Eric Birnbaum and operated by Caesars Entertainment. It was
named after the city of Rio de Janeiro and is influenced by Brazilian culture.
The hotel towers are covered in blue and red glass. The Rio hotel's 2,522 suites
range in size from 600 to 13,000 sq ft (56 to 1,208 m2) and have floor to
ceiling windows. There are several private villas on the property.

HISTORY AND SITE CONDITION


Las Vegas means The Meadows. It was an oasis in the middle of the desert, drew the
railroad because trains need water, and a small sleepy town sprang up. It remained a
small sleepy town until gangster Bugsy Siegel moved in to take advantage of Nevada's
gambling laws.

The site is build on calchie rich rock hard arid soil, in the middle of dessert.

General

Is a large scale commercial


complex having two hotels,
a mall, high end ballrooms, theaters and a casino all under one building
complex, all though having a optimal area of 2.9 lack sq mtrs, the area was
mostly (36 percent) consumed for parking usage and services as
underground construction is really expensive on calchie rich soil and is not
recommended due to the seasonal floods, the area was utilized
masterfully by the developers where all the factions of spaces work
playfully and functionally with each other making the complex grand while
not over shadowing one faction of space over other. The style was
conservative for the time of making of the building and now feels outdated
now.
