 1) In the network topology view, select sites, NEs or a single NE
 2) Select the menu Operations  Show Statuses

 Display NML assignment for an NE


 1) In the network topology view, select a NE
 2) Select the menu Tools  View Equipment
 3) Move the mouse over MGR icon
 4) Read assignment on the bottom left of the window

 Display simulator state for an NE


 1) In equipment view, move the mousse over SIM icon
 3) Read simulator state on the bottom left of the window

Refreshing NE states
 An automatic refresh is performed at regular intervals
 To check that the NE states displayed are up to date, perform a manual
refresh

 1) In the network topology view, select a site, one or more NEs


 2) Select the menu Operations  Resynchronize

Starting supervision
 1) In the network topology view, select one or more sites and NEs
 2) Select the menu Operations  Supervision  Align up
or  Align down
For a Q3 NE, start supervision and upload NE MIB-->OS
(whether Align up or Align down is selected)
 3) Wait for the result message to be displayed

 4) Click Close

 Aborting supervision
 stops management of the selected NE
 deactivates alarm collection and configurations
 SH immediately close the management session without collecting PM
data from NE
 faster than "stop supervision"

 1) In the network topology view, select one or more sites and NEs
 2) Select the menu Operations  Supervision  Abort Supervision
 3) Clic OK

Enabling/disabling NE operation access (1)
 Access granted
 Configuration of the NE managed from a craft terminal only
 The OS continues to receive and process alarms and performance data
 The OS can switch back to the OS access state (access denied)
 Access denied

 1) Select one or more sites and NEs
 2) Select the menu Operations  Access State  OS
or  Local
 3) Click OK
 4) Wait for the result message to be displayed

Principles (2)
 Work on an NE or on the NE simulator, but never on both.

 The NE simulator is used for:


 off-line browsing
 In case of DCN failure the NE simulator is the only way for the
1353NM operator to look up the NE's configuration (the
configuration stored at the time of the last backup).
 off-line configuration

 The simulator can be started only if the NE is in the "OS isolation" state.

 In default configuration, the Simulator can be started only once at a time on


a given 1353NM.

 2) Stop supervision of NE (Note 2)

 3) Start the simulator, menu : Supervision  Simulator  Start
 4) Modify the configuration
 5) Stop the simulator, menu : Supervision  Simulator  Stop
 6) Start supervision (changes done in the simulator don't appear)
 7) Align the simulator's MIB down to the NE,
 menu : Supervision  Simulator  Align down
 8) Activate the new configuration
 menu : Supervision  Simulator  Activate
 wait for communication to be re-established following "OS Isolation"

 1) from the TMN-OSs Management
window, select the 1353NM icon and then

 2) select the menu
NE Administration  OBS Monitoring
 3) the opened window indicates if the
simulator is in service and on which NE
