Using Recycled Water

For Non-Potable Reuse In A
Two Storey Residential House

Date: November 16, 2020

INTRODUCTION
➢ Philippine water shortage hits more than 6
➢ Residents in portions of Metro
million people in and around nation’s capital.
Manila and Cavite sometimes
experience
little to no water supply

➢ Despite its growing economy, ➢ The country is rapidly

the Philippines faces significant urbanizing, and its growing cities
challenges in terms of water and struggle to
sanitation access. provide new residents with
adequate water and sanitation
services.

Water reuse (also commonly known as water

recycling or water reclamation)
is a necessary practice to overcome water scarcity.

Water reuse reclaims water from a variety of sources

then treats and reuses it for beneficial purposes such
as agriculture and irrigation, potable water supplies,
groundwater replenishment, industrial
processes, and environmental restoration.

Water reuse can provide alternatives

to existing water supplies and be used to enhance reclamation-feasibility-study-planning/

water security, sustainability, and resilience.

SOLUTION
04
One of the sources comes from wastewater.
An adequate and efficient wastewater
treatment should be enough to eliminate
potentially pathogenic microorganisms, thus
avoiding human health risk.

Although guidelines about wastewater reuse

have been developed worldwide,
specific laws about microbiological quality of
wastewater should be implemented locally to guarantee
their fulfillment.

SOURCES
05
WASTEWATER IS BROKEN INTO TWO
CATEGORIES, DEPENDING UPON THE
SOURCE.

1. Gray water: Gray water is from showers, baths,

whirlpool tubs, washing machines, dishwashers
and sinks other than the kitchen sink. Technically
it is sewage that does not contain poop or urine.
Graywater is treated very differently from
Blackwater and is usually suitable for re-use

2. Black water: Black water is from

toilets and kitchen sinks.

06 OBJECTIVE 1

To design a basement waste water treatment

tank limited to greywater and
rainwater only.
OBJECTIVE 2

To design a recycled water pipelines system for

non-potable
reuse including toilet flushing, garden
watering, utility cleaning (paths,
vehicles and fences), and water features and
OBJECTIVES system (ponds and fountains).
OBJECTIVE 3
—The aim of this project is to design a
two storey residential house that uses
To determine the most convenient and easiest
recycled water for non-potable reuse
way available for treating
waste water for a single household.
