What is a tachometer
A tachometer is a measuring instrument.
Used for measuring speed of rotation/RPM.
The speedometer in your car is a tachometer.
Types of tachometer
Analog Digital
Comprise a needle and dial-type of Comprise LCD or LED, and additionally
interface. Here, speed is converted to memory storage ability. Very suitable for
voltage via use of an external frequency to precision measurement
voltage converter. This voltage is then
displayed by an analog voltmeter.
Contact Contact-less
The contact type is in contact with the The non-contact type is ideal for
rotating shaft, using an optical encoder or applications that are mobile, and uses a
magnetic sensor. laser or optical disk.
