have motorable pucca road. only one tenth have kaccha or non

• It can be clearly distinguished there is a huge difference in provision of pucca

road at city level and Study area level.
• Hence Udayarthottam lacks in good quality roads.

• Road Quality is very poor as compared to city level.

• And a significant amount of 15% i.e. 14 out of 94 have debts even higher
than 100000.
12
KEY
ISSUES
 People in Udayarthottam have high literacy rate as well as have
education qualification too.

 Even though they have high literacy and education there is a large
drop in number of people with earning and employment.

 23 households are either on encroached land or rented, that means not

less than 50 people don’t have security of shelter, they can be
removed any day.

 In terms of infrastructure, they have many of the infrastructures that

are available in the slums at city level.

 They lack in toilet facilities and road facilities.

GAPS WHICH IS NOT GIVEN IN THE DATA

• Lack of clarity about total population of the slum area, if we have
taken(as mentioned Puducherry city average household size 4) that is
equal to the man and women population only(not included children).

• Data of the population is not categorised in age-group, so that it would

be harder to get the two way analysis.

• Data of the Education is higher than the total population.
