PASSIVE • What is sentence ?

What is sentence?
Structure of sentence :

Subject + Verb + (Object / Adverb / Noun).

Types of sentence :
Structure :
1. Active Voice  Subject + Verb + Object / Adverb / Noun.

2. Passive Voice  Subject + To be + Verb 3 + Object /


Adverb / Noun.
Rules of passive voice.
1. Verbal sentence (sentence has verb.)
2. The sentence has object.
3. Doesn’t change the mean of sentence, only in sentence structure.
4. Use to be + V3.
Let’s make passive voice.
1. Make a verbal sentence. ( S + V + O )
2. Swap the subject to the end of sentence and the object to the
beginning of sentence.
3. Change the verb to verb 3.
4. Add to be before verb.
5. Add by after verb.
6. Done.
For example
• Jajat kicks
kick the ball.
ball

There are two forms of passive voice

• 1. Simple present  S + to be + V3 + Adv/Adj


Example : The house is built by me.

• 2. Continuous  S + to be + being + V3 + Adv/Adj


Example : The house is being built by me.
