KINDS OF

LINES
X-MA MYRRH F. QUILIOPE
GRADE 4-BARRIO
• A line can be defined as a straight
set of points that extend in
opposite directions
Line in • It has no ends in both
directions(infinite)
Math • It has no thickness
• It is one-dimensional
Rays • Unlike the line, a ray has a starting
point but no end. A ray
should be
drawn with an arrow at one
end to show its continuation
to infinity.
Segment
• A segment is used to distinguish point to
point of a shape in geometry. The segment
reaches one point to the next without
extending past those points.
4 types of Line
• In Geometry, there are basically four types of lines. They are:

1.Horizontal Lines
2.Vertical Lines
3.Parallel Lines
4.Perpendicular Lines
Horizontal • When a line moves from left to right in a
straight direction, it is a horizontal line.
Line
Vertical Line
When a line runs from top to bottom in a
Parallel
Lines
• When two straight lines don’t meet or
intersect at any point, even at infinity,
then they are parallel to each other
Perpendicular
Lines
• When two lines meet or intersect at an angle of
90 degrees or at a right angle, then they are
perpendicular to each other.
