FORGIVENESS
SYNONYMS:
 Acquittal-A judgement that a person is not guilty of the crime with
which the person has been charged.
 Absolution- Formal release from guilt, obligation, or punishment
 Exoneration-The action of officially absolving someone from blame;
vindication.
 To grant a pardon
 To excuse clearance
 Dismissal of charge
ANTONYMS:

 To hold a grudge- be resentfully unwilling to give, grant, or allow


something.
 Bitterness- sharpness of taste; lack of sweetness.
 Revenge- inflict hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong
done to someone else.
 Resentment- bitter indignation at having been treated unfairly.
 Spite- a desire to hurt, annoy, or offend someone.
 Malice- the intention or desire to do evil; ill will.

PRINCIPLES OF FORGIVENESS
 God is the author of forgiveness .(Psalm 103:2-3, 8-12)
 Christ’s death brought God’s forgiveness to us .(Romans 4:25; 5:8;
6:23; 8:1-2)
 On the basis of God’s forgiveness, we are commanded to forgive others.
(Eph.4:32)
 The requirement to forgive is unlimited . (Luke 17:3-4)
 Forgiveness brings joy and gratitude. (Luke7:47)
 Lack of forgiveness demonstrates hatred. (Matt.5:22; 1 John 3:15)
 Lack of forgiveness can hinder God’s forgiveness. (Mark 11:25-26)
 Unforgiveness can produce bitterness which can destroy a person from
within. (Heb. 12:14-15)
 Judgement for wrong action belongs to the Lord. (Romans 12:17, 21; 1
Timothy 5:24) He will settle the debt.
