and Materials
 BROOMS – We use brooms for
sweeping scattered garbage.
Brooms are made of twigs and
straw. There are two kinds of
broom.
1. Stick broom
2. Soft broom
• STICK BROOM – used for
sweeping hard floors. Hair
and dirt have to be removed
before storing.
• SOFT BROOM – used for
sweeping wooden or
cemented flooring.
• DUSTPAN – It can be used in
scooping all the dirt and waste
that will be thrown in the bin
after sweeping.
• MOP – made of absorbent
material attached to a
typically long handle and
used for washing, dusting,
or drying floors.
TYPES OF MOP
1. Flat Mop
2. Sponge Mop
3. Dust Mop
• FLAT MOP – It is a type of
mop with a flat head that
usually has a disposable or
reusable pad attached to it.
• SPONGE MOP – It consists
of a spongy mop head that
usually has an attached
wringer. Sponge mops may
have removable heads that
allow them to be rinsed
more easily and replaced
when necessary.
• DUST MOP – It is designed
to be used dry, to dust the
surfaces such as floors,
ceilings, and ceiling fans.
• BUCKET – Pail and buckets
are containers where you
can put the water and the
floor cleaning materials
that you will use while
mopping or cleaning.
• COBWEBBER – used to
help us reach the ceiling
and surfaces that we
cannot reach to remove
cobweb.
• SPONGE – It is soaked in a
bucket of water and soap
to remove stains, oils, and
dirt in our appliances and
areas in our homes.
• CLEANING CLOTH – It is
used to wipe and finish
the area to make it dry
and clean.

DUSTING CLOTH POLISHING CLOTH
• FLOOR AND WINDOW SQUEEGEE - It is
needed to remove excessive water from
the surface corners.
• GLOVES - useful to protect the hands from
possible allergies with the cleaning
products and also to protect it as it
touches food.
• BRUSHES – used to remove superficial or ingrained
layers of soiling depending on the type. It would be
impossible to identify every different type of brush
but all of them are made of three different parts:
- Bristles
- Stock
- Handle
TYPES OF BRUSHES
• HARD FLOOR BRUSH – It is
used on concrete. It is great
for use on hard floors as it
won’t scratch or damage
them.
• SOFT FLOOR BRUSH– It is
used on vinyl surfaces/tiles.
The dust and hairs should be
removed after use and the
brush must be washed and
dried.
• SCRUBBING BRUSH – It is a
type of wide brush with a
long shaft used for cleaning
hard floors or surfaces.
• TOILET/WATER CLOSET BRUSH
- used for toilet/water closet only. It
must be washed, rinsed, and
disinfected.
• BOTTLE BRUSH – It is
used for cleaning bottles,
flasks, and also overflow
vents in wash basins and
tubs.
• HAND BRUSH – It is used
for the corners. Removing
dirt and washing them is
essential before drying.
• WASTE BASKET– It is a
standing basket for waste
paper, small items of trash,
and etc.
• SCOURING PAD– It is a
small abrasive cleaning
pad used for scouring pots
and pans.
• WRINGER TROLLEY– It is
used for washing and
wringing mops. It may be
metal or plastic.

It is used in scrubbing,
stripping, and polishing hard
floor surfaces and also vinyl,
wood parquet, etc.

other dirt that you cannot
see from surfaces in the
house.

plastic box equipped with
rotating brushes and pushed
by means of a long handle.
