CELLS

the basic membrane-bound unit that

contains the fundamental molecules of
life and of which all living things are
composed.
Cell theory

● It is a scientific theory first formulated

in the mid-nineteenth century, that
living organisms are made up of cells,
that they are the basic
structural/organizational unit of all
organisms, and that all cells come from
pre-existing cells. Cells are the basic
unit of structure in all organisms and
also the basic unit of reproduction.
COMPONENTS OF
ALL CELLS
Plasma Membrane
01 It is the outermost and this
Deoxyribonucleic membrane separates the cells
contents from the external
acid (DNA) environment .
DNA is a key part of reproduction
in which genetic heredity
03
occurs through the passing
down of DNA from parent or
Cytoplasm
parents to offspring. 02 The cytoplasm is the gel-like fluid inside
the cell. It is the medium for chemical
reaction. It provides a platform upon
which other organelles can operate within
the cell
NUCLEUS
The nucleus is one of the most
obvious parts of the cell when
you look at a picture of the cell.
It's in the middle of the cell, and
the nucleus contains all of the
cell's chromosomes, which
encode the genetic material. So
this is really an important part of
the cell to protect
COMPONENTS OF THE NUCLEUS
Chromatin DNA and associated proteins in a cell nucleus

Nucleoplasm Semifluid interior portion of the nucleus

Nuclear Envelope Double membrane with nuclear pores that control

which substances enter and exit the nucleus.

Nucleolus Dense Region of proteins and nucleic acid where

ribosomal subunits are being produced.
Mitochondria are membrane-bound cell organelles (mitochondrion, singular) that generate
most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell's biochemical reactions.
A chloroplast is an organelle within the cells of plants and certain algae that is the site of
photosynthesis, which is the process by which energy from the Sun is converted into
chemical energy for growth.\
Plastids are double-membrane organelles which are found in the cells of plants and
algae. Plastids are responsible for manufacturing and storing of food.
The cytoskeleton is a structure that helps cells maintain their shape and internal
organization, and it also provides mechanical support that enables cells to carry out
essential functions like division and movement. There is no single cytoskeletal component.
Cell junctions (or intercellular bridges) are a class of cellular structures consisting of
multiprotein complexes that provide contact or adhesion between neighboring cells or
between a cell and the extracellular matrix in animals.
