Non Inverting Operational Amplifier

 o/p is in the same sense as the i/p signal

 i/p voltage signal, (Vin) is applied directly to the Non-inverting (+) i/p
terminal
 the o/p is applied back to i/p through the feedback ckt
 Rf & Ri form a voltage divide at the inverting i/p(-), and this produce a –ve
feedback
 as Ri is grounded and i/p signal is applied to the non-inverting i/p(+)
 the o/p signal will be non-inverting with in phase with i/p signal
Non Inverting Operational Amplifier
Voltage Gain
 suppose if it is not at saturation stage, the potential at point A is the same as
Vin

 since the i/p impedance is very high so all of the current that flows through R f
will also flows through Ri
So voltage across Ri = Vin - 0 ; voltage across Rf = Vout - Vin
current through Ri = current through Rf

Vin Rf = Vout Ri - Vin Ri

Vin(Rf + Ri) = Vout Ri

Closed loop voltage gain, ACL =

Non Inverting Operational Amplifier
Voltage Gain
 the gain depends on following
 the gain can be made equal to or greater than 1
 the voltage gain of a non inverting Op-Amp will always be greater than the
gain of an equivalent inverting amplifier by a value of 1
 if an inverting amplifier has gain of 150, the equivalent non inverting
amplifier will have a gain of 151
Non Inverting Operational Amplifier

if it has an i/p of 120μV

Solution
Non Inverting Operational Amplifier
Example..

voltage of (i) 1V (ii) -1V

Solution
Non Inverting Operational Amplifier
Example..
For a non inverting amplifier ckt shown below, find the peak to peak output
voltage.

Solution
Bandwidth of an Operational Amplifier
 the range of frequencies
 every electronic device work on limited range of frequencies
 bandwidth of an op-amp, the range of frequencies over which it work
properly
 depends upon closed loop gain
Gain Bandwidth Product (GBW or GB)
 a device parameter that indicates the maximum possible product of gain and
bandwidth
 GBW or unity gain bandwidth is the closed loop gain multiplied by the
cutoff frequency for that gain
ACL x f2 = funity = GBW
where ACL = closed loop gain at frequency f2
funity = frequency at which the closed loop gain is unity
 GBW used to find: the max: value of ACL at given value of f2
: the value of f2 for a given value of ACL
Bandwidth of an Operational Amplifier
Example..
if an op-amp has a gain-bandwidth product of 15MHz. Determine the
bandwidth of op-amp when ACL = 500, also find the max: value of ACL when f2
= 200kHz
