Dating is a social activity which involves
two or more individual who consider
each other’s suitability for a potential
relationship . The word dating means
arranging of a time and date of meeting.
Types of Dating:
1. Standard date - involves two people
2. Double date – two couples go on a date at
the same time and place

3. Group date – where any number of couples
can enjoy a date.
Importance of Dating:
1. Know one another better
2. Observe the other person’s character
3. Spend quality time with each other
4. Strengthen the relationship
5. Know one’s strength and weakness
6. Reveal any potential problems the partner’s
may have
However, Dating is not always safe. There are risks
connected with dating that can affect any person ,
especially young and innocent individuals.
Risks may include date rape, use of illegal drugs,
early and unwanted pregnancy. That is why it is
important to be cautious and safeguard yourself
to avoid mistakes that you will regret later on.
Courtship is a couple’s relationship that leads
to engagement and marriage or it is an
establishment of an agreed relationship.
During courtship a couple gets to know
each other and decide if there will be an
engagement or such agreement.
