Value the importance of taking body measurements properly and correctly Tips in Taking Body Measurements for Ladies Trousers 1.Use a clear and correctly numbered tape measure. 2.Start from number one when taking measurements. 3.Never take your own measurements. 4.Stand straight when being measured. 5. Empty the pockets and remove the belts when measurements are being taken. 6. Follow the correct order of taking the body measurements. 7. Measurements should never be too tight nor too loose. 8. Record all measurements immediately. Procedure in Taking Body Measurements for Casual Dress Vertical Measurement -taken from the top going down. Figure Back taken from the nape down the waist of the back bodice. Figure Front Taken from the neck point passing over the bust down the waist. Bust Height Taken from the neck point down to the highest point of the bust. Length of Blouse Taken from the nape down to the desired length. Horizontal Measurement - taken across the body or taken from left going to the right. Shoulder point width Taken from the shoulder tip point across the back to the other shoulder tip point. Front Chest Taken from the one’s front beside the armpit to the other Bust Distance taken from the bust point to the other bust point. Back Width taken beside the armpit to the other armpit at the back. Circumference Measurement - taken around the body. Bust taken around the fullest part of the bust and slightly higher at the back. Waist taken around the smallest part of the torso. Seat or Hip •Taken around the fullest part of the second hip or buttock with a tape measure. Application : 1. The two students will measure their models. 2. After watching, the whole class will measure each other to apply what they have observed.
