CHEMICAL EQUATIONS
A.R.E.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES
1. Write equations for chemical reactions and
balance the equations (STEM_GC11CR-If-g-
34).
2. Interpret the meaning of a balanced
chemical reaction in terms of the Law of
Conservations of Mass (STEM_GC11CR-If-g-
35).
LEARNING COMPETENCIES
3.Describe evidences that a chemical
reaction has occurred (STEM_GC11CRIf-
g-36).
4.Perform exercises on writing and
balancing chemical equations
(STEM_GC11CR-If-g-37).
Chemical Reactions
• Chemical Reaction – a change that alters the chemical composition of a
substance and results in the formation of one or more new substances
– Decomposition of water H2O into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) gases
• A chemical reaction is simply a rearrangement of the atoms. Some of
the original chemical bonds are broken and new bonds form.
– New and different chemical structures are formed.
