WHAT IS THE PET EXAM?

• This is an intermediate level certificate that is

part of the Cambridge English exams. If you
manage to pass the exam and obtain this
certificate, you will have the B1 level of
English of the Common European Framework.
WHAT IS THE FCE EXAM?

• First Certificate in English (FCE) is one of the

English level exams, affiliated with the University
of Cambridge, which is equivalent to level B2 of
the Common European Framework of Reference
for languages. Its approval proves the ability to
speak the English language efficiently in society.
SOME STRATEGIES
• - Have a good knowledge of the parts of this section, not only theoretically, but also through
regular practice of exercises in real exam conditions.
• - Know the vocabulary and grammar points evaluated in this part. You can use memory cards and
do as many exercises as possible.
• - Know well the instructions and the different formats of the 7 sections to avoid wasting time on
the day of the exam.
• - Since you will have MORE minutes that you can manage as you wish, it is very important that
you train by setting a certain period of time for each section.
• - At the end of each training, take some time to review the exceptions and linguistic particularities
of the content evaluated.
FOR LISTENING
• - Focus on the ideas and not on the exact words, since the answer options are
usually paraphrases of the information presented in the audio.
• - Take advantage of the minute of silence that they give you after the instructions
to read the questions and underline some important words to better identify the
information while listening to the audio.
• - The Listening sessions present a long conversation (3 or 4 minutes) between 2 or
3 people, and the 7 corresponding questions. Since it's the last section, you'll
probably feel a bit tired, so try to train yourself with long audios to focus during
that time and progressively get the information you need to answer the 7 questions.
DO NOT FORGET
* Familiarize yourself with all possible types of texts.
Train yourself to be able to write two different texts in the
given period.
• During the exam, make sure you read the instructions
carefully and concentrate exclusively on what is asked
of you. *
• Making a structured plan of your ideas before writing is
essential to maintain coherence and not disperse.
