n3
LO: We are learning to multiply
using arrays.
SC: I can explain what an array is and identify the number of
rows and columns.
I can write the multiplication equation and the repeated
addition equation.
I can create my own arrays and write the matching
multiplication equation and repeated addition equation.
Retrieval Practise:

All multiples of 2 end in a… 0,2,4,6 or 8

Al multiples of 5 end in a… 0 or 5
All multiples of 10 end in a… 0
What is an array?
An array is a way of organizing things in rows and
5 columns columns.

4 x 5= 20
4 rows
4+4+4+4+4 = 20
Create the equations for this
array.
4 columns

2 x 4= 8
2 rows 2+2+2+2 = 8
Create the equations for this
array.
6 columns

2 x 6= 12
2 rows 2+2+2+2+2+2
= 12
Create your own array and
right the multiplication
equation and the repeated
addition.
Does 2x 5 have the same answer
as 5x2?
YES: 2x5= 10 and 5x2= 10

Does 10 x 5 have the same answer as 5x

10? YES: 10x 5= 50 and 5 x 10= 50

LO: We are learning complete inverse
equations.
SC: Ican explain what inverse means and
explain what numbers are used.
Using the 3 numbers I have been given I can
create multiplication and division equations.
I can create my own fact families and test my
partner.
What does inverse
mean?
Inverse means OPPOSITE.

Addition is the opposite of… SUBTRACTION

Multiplication is the opposite of… DIVISION
