Acom MX-3

Digital Multiplexer

AIMS
Advanced Intelligent
Management System
Overview
• PC software program used for:
– configuration of the MX-3 including gain
setting and channel definition &
allocation
– loading firmware
– monitoring signalling and alarms
– defining fault and changeover conditions

• Grey:
Grey no card is expected or present
in this slot
• Green:
Green a card is expected and present
in this slot
• Yellow:
Yellow card found is correct but an
error has been detected on it
• Red:
Red a card is expected and not
present OR the card is present but not

Alarm Parameters
• Active Slip Time:
Duration between two slips, resulting in the 2Mbps
link slip alarm.
• Inactive Slip Time:
Duration after one slip in which time no other slip may
occur, thus resulting in the 2Mbps link slip alarm to be
set inactive.
• Alarm Pulse Time:
Duration the output alarm
will remain active when
set to ‘pulse’

Faults
Faults
• Source - ie. 0MCU3
Provides the name of the card and its slot position in the
subrack.
• Time - 10:19:17
Provides the time that the fault occurred at. This time
comes from the subrack.
• Date - 29/Sep/1998
Provides the day that the fault occurred at. This date
comes from the subrack.
• Description - Input Alarm ……
Provides a description of the fault.
• State - Active, Inactive
Provides the current state of the fault. This is only used for
faults reporting alarm conditions.

MCU3 Options
• 2Mbps Test Options
• AIS: The framer generates an Alarm Indication Signal
that is transmitted to the remote end, i.e. the MCU3 will
transmit an AIS (constant sequence of ones) down the
link.
• SIM: The framer generates simulated input alarms
• Loopback: Internally Loopback the 2Mbps link. ie The
data to be transmitted on the 2Mb link is sent to the
external world and
also to the received side
of the 2Mb link. Data being
received from the external
world is ignored.
MCU3 Options
– NOS: No signal is present on
the 2Mbps link
– LOS: Synchronisation has
been lost on the 2Mbps link
– AIS: Alarm indication signal is
being received from the remote
end
– RRA: Remote alarms is being
received from the remote end
– RPE: Parity error is occurring
on the receive line of the link
– SLP: Slip is occurring on the
receive line of the link
– SDI: Direction of the slip
– CAL: Not receiving a valid
CRC4 signal

TIE Options
• Special Setting
•Ring Cadence
Pass Through - The ring cadence is passed to the TIE from
the line that the TIE is connected to. (default).
Generate - The ring cadence is generated and passed to the
TIE card as long as the line that the TIE is connected to has
incoming signalling.
•Ring Tone
Enable - A ring tone shall be output to the channel when the
TIE is off-hook and the line, the TIE is connected to has not
been answered.
Disable - A ring tone shall not be output to the channel.
(default).
EIE Options

unavailable:
– Signalling Monitor
– Selftest
– Loopback

EIE Options

• Ring Cadence
Pass Through - Ring cadence is passed through from the
line card
Permanent - Incoming ring is debounced by a 6 second timer
and the debounced signal is passed to the connected line.
e.g. as long as a ring pulse is detected every 6 second the
passed signaling shall be active.
Transparent - Normally when an EIE line is looped an answer
signal is passed to the connected line. In transparent mode
the signal passed to the connected line shall follow the
incoming ring state.
