 The term “ technology” comes
from the Greek word “techne”
which means “art or craft”.
 Technology means words or
discourse about the thing are
gained.
technology
 Planned, systematic method of working to
achieve planned outcomes.
 A process and a product.
Technology
 Any valid and reliable process or procedure
that is derived from basic research using the
scientific method.
 All ways people use their inventions and
discoveries to satisfy needs and desires.
Technology
 Technology is the application of science
to solve problem.
 Technology is the making, usage and
knowledge of tools, machine, techniques,
crafts and systems of organization to
solve problems.

Biotechnology
of Technology
 Transform living things into products or new forms of life.
Examples:
Information technology
 Allows us to send signals around the world.
Examples: television, internet, satellite, GPS, cell phones
Communication technology
 Is giving o exchanging information.
Examples: magazines,DVD’s, photography, video games
Energy and power technology
 Is the ability or capacity to do work.
Examples: chemical energy, mechanical energy, thermal energy,
electrical energy, radiant energy
Production technology
 Is the manufacturing of physical goods on an assembly line and the
construction of constructions on a job site.
Examples: clothing, vehicles, food , house, bridges, roads
Transportation technology
 Provides a way o people , animals , products, and materials to be
moved from one place to the next.
Examples: airplane, rocket, space shuttle,train,subway,automobile,
bicycle.commercial, cruise ship, conveyor belts, pipelines.
Medical technology
 Creates tools to treat disease and injury.
Examples: lasers, ultrasound, medications.
Environmental technology
 creates tools to minimize the effect of technology on the development
of living things.
Examples: hybrid vehicles , conservation, waste management
Materials technology
 The development of materials with outstanding combinations of
mechanical, chemical and electrical properties that make other
advances possible.
Examples: mosquito repellent clothing, artificial skin grafts for burns
victims.
Nanotechnology
>is manipulating materials on an atomic or molecular level.
Examples: sensors, molecular manufacturing
Advantages of Technology
 Reduces the time it takes to perform a task.
 Removes drudgery from a task.
 Allows you to perform more that one task at the
same time.
 Improves the quality of the finished product.
 Improves the health of individuals because food can
cooked and stored more easily and prevent the
transmission of germs.
 Increases the performance rate of tasks that can be
performed with a specified time.
Disadvantages of technology
 Technology some cause unemployment as
machine replaces human labor.
 Technology can cause individuals to become
inactive.
Technology is the knowledge that makes the
technological process possible. It consist the
facts and procedures necessary to order and
manipulate matter ,energy, and information as
well as how to discover new means for such
transformation.
