STRUCTURE OF THE DAY: Comparative (So sánh hơn)
Ex: Our life will be SAFER.
People’s homes will be MORE PLEASANT.
Travelling will be EASIER.
Read the examples above, then match them with the rules.

📔 Rule 1. Add -ER to the end of one-syllable adjectives.


(Thêm -ER vào phía cuối những tính từ 1 âm tiết).

📔 Rule 2. For adjectives that end with -Y, change -Y to -I and add -ER.
(Đối với tính từ tận cùng bằng -Y, đổi -Y thành -I và thêm -ER).

📔 Rule 3. Add MORE in front of the adjectives that have more than one syllable.
(Thêm MORE phía trước những tính từ có nhiều hơn 1 âm tiết.)
STRUCTURE OF THE DAY: Comparative (So sánh hơn)
● Note: If the one-syllable adjective ends with a single consonant preceded by a
vowel, double the consonant and add -er .
Ex: big - bigger thin - thinner

❖ Note: Some adjectives have irregular comparatives.

Practice: Use comparatives to compare you now and you 10 years ago.

Sam: Sure, I think I cannot live without the Internet, even for just a day.

Vivian: Really?

Sam: Yes, I spend most of my time on the Internet working, relaxing or


chatting with friends.

Vivian: Let’s go for a drink.
