PRAYER BEFORE THE CLASS STARTS

Dear Lord and Father of all, thank you for today. Thank
you for ways in which you provide us all. For your
protection and love we thank you. Help us to focus our
hearts and minds now what we are about to learn.
Inspire us with your Holy spirit now as we listen and
write. Guide as by your eternal light as we discover more
about the world around us. We ask all this in the name
Jesus.
AMEN.
RECALL!
Choose the correct word/s being described in
the statement given by the teacher.
An object's change in position
relative to a reference point.

FORCE MOTION
Resistance to change.

INERTIA FRICTION
A push or a pull.

FORCE FRICTION
According to Newton's second law of
motion, a/an ________ force will cause
an object to move in the direction of
the force.

BALANCE UNBALANCE
D D
The time rate at which an
object is moving along a path

SPEED VELOCITY
The rate and direction of an
object's movement.

WEEK 2:
Balanced and
Unbalanced forces
PREPARED BY: FRANCES ANNE B. BLANCAFLOR, LPT
RESULTANT FORCE is
defined as the total
effective force acting on a
body along with their
directions.
BALANCED
FORCES
Balanced forces are forces that are
equal in magnitude and in opposite
direction so there will be no motion in
an object.
Forces that cause a change in the
motion of an object are unbalanced
forces.
Thus, forces comes in pairs and the y
can be either balanced or unbalanced.
Balanced forces do not
cause change in motion.
They are equal in size and
opposite in direction.
BALANCED
FORCES
What makes the pen, and the
vase stays at rest?
What makes the pen, and the vase
stays at rest?

The pen stays in place because of another force that acts on it that is supplied by
the string which we refer in physics as tension force (T).
What makes the pen, and the vase
stays at rest?

Tension force is the force which is

transmitted through a string, rope, or
wire when it is pulled tight by forces
acting at each end.
What makes the pen, and the vase
stays at rest?
The vase on the other hand,
stays at rest because of the
upward push exerted on it
by the table which referred
to as normal force (Fn).
What makes the pen, and the vase
stays at rest?

Both the tension force and normal force counteract the pull of gravity
(Fg) that acts on the objects, which makes them to stay at rest.
How are we able to
stand on the earth
without falling into
the center of the
earth?
Unbalanced forces always
causes a change in motion.

UNBALANCED
FORCES
COMBINING
FORCES??
For you to determine the net force
or unbalanced force, you must
recognize those forces that act
along the same line of action.
The algebraic sign + and – are
used to indicate the direction of
forces. +
right, upward/normal
force

In Mathematics, we use cartesian

plane in determining the sign of
coordinates. You may also use -
this as a guide for the direction of left,
downward/gravitational
forces,. force
How about if the object is in
motion? How will the
unbalanced force affect its
motion?
There is another force that acts on the ball along the
horizontal line or along the force that makes the ball in
motion. This is called friction force (Ff). Friction is a
force that acts between surfaces that are in contact with
one another.
When body is in
motion, we can
determine its net
force.
Net force is when a body is in
motion and many forces are active on
it like gravitational force Fg,
frictional force Ff, and the normal
force.

Fnet= Sum of all the acting forces

The vase stays at rest because it has a normal
force of 5units and gravitational force of 5
units also. Let's find out will be the net force
of the vase.
