PRESENTATION TITLE 2
What is the Qualitative method of research?
• Qualitative research involves gathering and evaluating non-
numerical data in order to comprehend a population’s
thoughts, views, or experiences. It can be utilized to gain in-
depth insights into a topic or to develop fresh research ideas.

• Questionnaires and recorded interviews with open-ended

items are used in this method of research.
Advantages and Disadvantages of
Qualitative method of research?
Advantages Disadvantages
• Lots of data from smaller sample size • May require multiple sessions

• You obtain specific insights • Data analysis is time consuming

• Open-ended questions generate • Lack of statistical representation

information in abundance
What is the Quantitative method of
research?
• The process of gathering and interpreting numerical data is
known as quantitative research. It may be used to discover
patterns and averages, to make predictions, to verify causal
linkages, and to generalize results to larger groups.

• Questionnaires and recorded interviews with closed-ended

items are used in this method of research.
Advantages and Disadvantages of
Quantitative method of research?
Advantages Disadvantages
• A larger sample is easily obtained • Respondents’ personal opinions are ignored

• Researcher is more objective towards data • No in-depth information is obtained

• Data is represented statistically • More expensive since a larger sample is

DEDUCTIVE APPROACHES IN RESEARCH

A deductive approach in research is concerned with developing a

hypothesis (or hypotheses) based on existing theory, and then
designing a research strategy to test the hypothesis

PRESENTATION TITLE 8
INDUCTIVE APPROACHES TO RESEARCH

An inductive approach in research is concerned with developing a

theory based on empirical observations from patterns and
regularities along with a tentative hypotheses that can be explored
