TECHNOLOGY
The Laser
- it was invented by Theodore Maiman. It is used to read blue-ray.
- Laser is an ancronym and stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

- It was the first mini computer on the market.
- It contained the hardware for the first game “Spacewar”
The first robot
- It was used to help to manufacture GM cars.
The first typewriter
- The BMI typewriter was made to make writing faster, much neater and to save papers.
EDUCATION
The 1960’s were an age of fashion innovation for women. The early
1960’s gave birth drainpipe jeans and capri pants, which were worn by
Audrey Hepburn. Casual dress became more unisex and often consisted
of plain button down shirt worn with slim blue jeans, comfortable
slacks, or skirts.

• The worlds first general microprocesor , the intel 4004, came out in
November 1971.
• The C programming language developed early in the dacade.
• Unix operating system was rewritten into it in 1973.

• A major reform movement that won widespread support was the effort to
make education available to more children. The man who led this movement
was Horace Mann “the father of American public schools.” Wealthy parents
sent their children to private school or hired tutors at home.

• The early 1970s fashion scene was very similar to 1969, just a bit more flamboyant. It
wouldn’t be hyperbole to say that the fashion revolution occurred in the 1970s.
• Polyester was the material of choice and bright colors were everywhere. Men and
women alike were wearing very tight fitting pants and platform shoes. By 1973, most
women were wearing high cut boots and low cut pants.

• The new HOLLYWOOD movement was about a new generation film makers who
came of age in the 60’s and went on to define film making.
• Gave birth to Blockbusters.
• Foundation upon current cinema nowadays are based. Disbandment of the boy band
the BEATLES.

• The decade of the 1970’s saw significant changes in television programming in both
United Kingdom and the United States. The Trends included the decline of the
“family sitcoms” and rural-oriented programs to more socially contemporary show
and “young, hip and urban” sitcoms in the United State and the permanent
establishment of colour television in the United Kingdom.

- launched in the U.K and U.S in 1980.
- Sony’s portable cassette player was simply must-have gadget o the decade,
allowing you to take your favourite tunes with you wherever you went.

• Philippine education institution in the late 1980’s varied quality. Some Universities
were excellent, others were considered “diploma mills” with low standard.
• Then proportion of the national government budget going to education has varied
from a high of 31.53% in 1957 to as low of 7.61% in 1981.

• In 1980’s due to the power of dressing movement, women, usually young adults, also
started to wear clothes with shoulder pads while teenagers started wearing neon
colored clothes.
• Miniskirts also came back in popularity.
• Hairstyles were also emphasized as most women had their hair curled.

• By 1980’s home computers were becoming more common and social media
become sophisticated.

• Many of the technological and social issues in medicine and health in
the 1980’s came to be symbolized by Americans with the names
Barney Clark, Baby Fae, and Baby M. The most widely publicized
medical technology of the decade was the artificial heart program.

Like the clothing, the shoes of the '90s fell into the
same trend categories. The grunge movement
created an army of men and women alike wearing
heavy-duty, combat boots. They were tough, gritty
and paired with everything from slip dresses and
florals to flannel shirts and frayed jeans.

to scientists creating artificial livers for transplantation or other techniques that enable
a damaged liver to renew itself.
• In 2005 Jean-Michel Dubernard, a French transplant specialist, carried out a partial
face transplant on a woman whose face became disfigured as a result of a dog attack.
In 2010, Spanish doctors carried out a full-face transplant on a man who had been in a
shooting accident.
