Introduction….

• Nisha-
Namaste everyone my name is Nisha. My fellow friends on stage
are Captain Shlok, Vice captain Advik, Aditya and Aarvi. Today, we
shall be talking about GOA. The capital of Goa is Panaji and its chief
minister is Dr. Pramod Sawant.
Languages….

• Aditya-
The official language of Goa is Konkani
followed by co official language, Marathi.
The other languages spoken in the state are
Hindi, English and Kannada. Since Goa was a
Portuguese territory, some old citizens also
speak Portuguese in the state.
Traditional Attire….

• Aarvi-
The main costume for the women of Goa is
the 9-yard sari, which they complement with
traditional jewelry. Pano bhaju is another
important traditional costume of the women
of Goa. The Koli fishermen of Goa, who
wear colourful shirts and half pants, and a
hat made of bark of the bamboo trees, make
for a wonderful sight.
Traditional Food….

• Advik-
Sea food is the primary ingredient in Goan
cuisine along with a sumptuous use of
Coconut and Kokam. Dishes like Xacuti and
Vindaloo are some famous goan dishes, but
the most famous goan dish is fish curry with
plain rice.
Seasons….

• Aarvi-
Goa, being in the tropical zone and near the
Arabian Sea, has a hot and humid climate for
most of the year. The month of May is the
hottest, seeing day temperatures of over 35
°C coupled with high humidity. The
monsoon rains arrive by early June and
provide needed respite from the heat.
Winters are non-existent in goa and
November to February are the most pleasant
months. No wonder these months attract
large number of tourists to the state.
Interesting Facts….

• Shlok-
Do you know goa is the smallest state we
have in India? It has beautiful beaches and
2/3rd of its land is covered with trees which
houses more than 400 bird species. That’s
not all, goa is the most visited state by
tourists in India. Goa was ruled by
Portuguese for 450 years and became part of
India as late as 19th December 1961 and an
Indian state only in 1987.
Things to See….

• Advik-
Goa is known for its famous beaches and
churches. South goa is known for its white
sand beaches like colva and pallolim whereas
North goa beaches like Calangute and baga are
known for their vibrant nightlife. Basalica of
Bom Jesus is the most famous church in goa.
Dudhsagar Falls, the biggest waterfall of India,
is also located in Goa. Goa is also famous for
its spice plantation. Many farms organize spice
tours for tourists showcasing variety of organic
spices.
