Mathematics Prayer

Dear God,
May we through your blessings, add
purity to the world, subtract evil from our
lives, multiply the good news of your son, and
divide your gifts and share them with others.
Amen.

Lesson 10: Determining Equation
of a Line
Objective:
Finds the equation of a line given (a) two points;
(b) the slope and a point; (c) the slope and its
intercepts. (M8AL-Ig-1)
We can determine the equation of a line if we are
given the following information:
1. Two points of the line, using the two – point form

2. The slope and a point of the line using the point – slope form

3. The slope and the y – intercept of the line y = mx + b

4. The x – intercept and y – intercept of the line
When we determine the equation of a line, our
final answer should be in any of these forms:

1. The standard form:

2. The slope – intercept form:
3. The intercept form:

When we know the x – intercept and y – intercept
of a line, we can get its equation. A point on the x –
axis has coordinates , where a is the x – intercept, and
a point on the y – axis has coordinates , where b is the
y – intercept.
