Freedom as Fundamental For

Moral Acts

agenda What Is Culture?

How does it define our Moral

Culture?

SUMMARY
introduction
Without freedom there is no choice.
With no choice it is impossible for an
action to be right or wrong, moral or
immoral. The action is predetermined.
That is why freedom and free will are
necessary for moral acts. Without
freedom to act we cannot be held
responsible for what we do.

ETHICS
Why is freedom the foundation of moral
acts? Because, we people have its own
freedom, and there is no limits onto it,
and that is the main reason why freedom
is base on the moral act, is to just to give
a limit to the people, limit to know what
would be the right or wrong decision to
be made.
WHAT IS CULTURE?

It is what makes us human. Without culture,

there would be no humans. Culture is made
up of traditions, beliefs, way of life, from
the most spiritual to the most material. It
gives us meaning, a way of leading our
lives.

CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTURE
CULTURE IS LEARNED.

CULTURE IS SHARED.

CULTURE IS SYMBOLIC.

CULTURE IS HOLISTIC. CULTURE IS DYNAMIC.

CULTURE IS SHARED.

To say that a group of people shares a culture does

not mean all individuals think or act in identical ways.

One’s beliefs and practices can vary within a culture

depending on age, gender, social status, and other

characteristics.

CULTURE IS LEARNED.

While we are not born with a particular culture, we are

born with the capacity to learn any culture. Through the
process of enculturation, we learn to become members of
our group both directly, through instruction from our
parents and peers, and indirectly by observing and
imitating those around us.

CULTURE IS SYMBOLIC.

Much like art and language, culture is also symbolic.

A symbol is something, verbal or non-verbal, that
stands for something else, often without an obvious or
natural connection. Individuals create, interpret, and
share the meanings of symbols within their group or
the larger society.

CULTURE IS HOLISTIC.

Culture is all-encompassing. It is a blueprint for living and

tells us how to respond in any given situation. Culture
includes social and political organizations and institutions,
legal and economic systems, family groups, descent,
religion, and language. However, it also includes all aspects
of our everyday lives such as the clothing we wear, what we
eat, what we watch on television, and what music we listen
to.

CULTURE IS DYNAMIC.

Culture is dynamic and constantly changes in response to

both internal and external factors. Some parts of culture
change more quickly than others. For instance, in
dominant American culture, technology changes rapidly
while deep-seated values such as individualism, freedom,
and self-determination change very little over time.

How does culture define our moral behavior?

Culture reflects the moral and ethical beliefs and standards that speak to how
people should behave and interact with others. Cultural norms are the shared,
sanctioned, and integrated systems of beliefs and practices that are passed down
through generations and characterize a cultural group.

How does culture define our moral behavior?

Norms cultivate reliable guidelines for daily living and contribute to the health and
well-being of a culture. These normative beliefs, together with related cultural
values and rituals, impose a sense of order and control on aspects of life that
might otherwise appear chaotic or unpredictable.
