Objectives of the Study
With this in mind, the research set out three goals or objectives by the end once the
study is completed. The research sought:

01 To determine the educational journey of ALS students in DPLMHS - SASH;

02 To identify the challenges and barriers faced by ALS students in their educational
pursuits within the school setting;

03 To identify the strategies and interventions that can further enhance the educational
experience and outcomes of ALS students in DPLMHS - SASH.
Significance of the Study
The Study 'Experiences of Alternative Learning System Students of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High School Stand - Alone Senior High School' can be a way to identify the different experiences of
ALS Students. Specifically, the study will be significant to the following individuals:

Teachers. The study will help give insights for teachers in developing more effective teaching
strategies and support mechanisms in teaching ALS students.

School administrators. This study can help school administrators in utilizing the findings of the
research to support challenges faced by ALS Students. It may range from implementing school
policies, providing resources, and support systems.

Future researchers. The study will help give more information about Alternative Learning System
students that can be used for further research and reference.
Scope and Delimitation
The study focuses on the experiences of ALS students in Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High Stand - Alone Senior High School. The study will be held at Governor Ramos
Ave., Sta. Maria, ZC, Philippines with participants within the school DPLMHS - SASH.
In gathering the data, interviews will be used, specifically group discussion interview.
After the collection of data, the researchers will analyze the data to make a conclusion
out of the data taken from the respondents.

Research Design
This study is a qualitative research employing phenomenological research. The
research will focus on the experiences of the alternative learning system students in
Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School Stand Alone Senior High School. The
research aims to document the perspectives of the ALS students, their educational
journey as a ALS student, the challenges they face and what are their aspirations for
enrolling in this kind of program. Additionally, this study aims to educate and give
knowledge to others to support ALS student and the alternative learning program.
Locale of the Study
This study will be conducted in Don Pablo Lorenzo High School
Stand Alone Senior High School, located in Gov. Ramos, Sta. Maria,
Zamboanga City, where the ALS students are enrolled in.
METHODS OF DATA
COLLECTION

• Sampling Design
 A non-probability sampling method will be employed to select participants for
this study. The researchers will choose Alternative Learning System (ALS)
students from Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School who can provide
valuable insights into their educational experiences. Approximately 10 ALS
students will be selected to participate in focus group discussions. This method is
chosen to gather in-depth insights into the educational journey, challenges,
support systems, and overall experiences of ALS students within the school. The
guide questions for the focus group discussions are as follows:

1. What motivated you to enroll in the ALS program at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High School?

2. Can you describe your educational journey as an ALS student?

3. What challenges or barriers have you encountered in pursuing your education


within the school?

5. What support systems or interventions have you found helpful in enhancing your
educational experience?

6. In your opinion, what strategies or changes could be implemented to further improve the
