CHARLOTTE WEBB’S OFFICE – DAYDetective Reynolds sits across from Charlotte.REYNOLDSDr. Webb, we’re investigating the deathof Marcus Gamble. He was shot over ayear ago in East Orange. We havereason believe that his ex-girlfriend,Portia Robeson, was somehow involved inthe shooting.CHARLOTTE And since Achilles Addams is the onlystudent on campus from East Orange youbelieve he’s also linked to theshooting.REYNOLDSWe’ve questioned Ms. Robeson severaltimes. She says that she and Mr. Addams were together on the night ofthe shooting.(clears his throat)In the biblical sense. I’m here to askMr. Addams a few questions.CHARLOTTEMy husband is a retired detective, so Iknow police work can be painstaking.Still, I’m surprised it’s taken you ayear to get around to questioning oneof my student athletes if you suspecthis girlfriend is involved in ahomicide.REYNOLDSGamble was a 16-year-old gang bangerand drug dealer. Frankly, Dr. Webb,our assumption going into theinvestigation was that this was justanother gang-on-gang shooting. We’veseen our share of that in East Orange.
