Cross-curricular elements: Multiple Intelligence thinking skills, kinaesthetic Steps: 1. Play a vocabulary game (such as Hangman) focusing on names of sports. Focus on one, two and three-syllable words. Display a jazz chant (with the structure stated in the guidelines below) which incorporates names of various sports. Model the jazz chant a few times and get pupils to chant along in groups Teacher writes names of various sports (such as squash, darts, football, netball, basketball, volleyball) and pupils classify them according to number of syllables with teachers guide. Divide pupils into groups and get them to compose a similar jazz chant based on the following guide lines Two-syllable word, three-syllable word, one syllable word. Repeat Two-syllable word, three-syllable word Repeat Repeat first line He plays (2-syllable word) She plays (3-syllable word) We play (1-syllable word)
