DIS CHINA FIELD TRIP GUIDELINES

(In addition to G.R.A.B. Travel and Tours Guidelines found below)


ATTIRE
Winter clothes and gear as suggested and itemized by our travel agent. In lieu of the offcial PE uniform,
options suggested by some parents were considered.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
We have decided that maroon beanies/bonnets and scarves with DIS logo be the official uniform for all
students joining the trip. As the official uniform of the trip , every student is required to wear them.You may
purchase them on Monday during dismissal. The cost is P500.00 for both the bonnet and scarf with DIS
logo.
DSWD CLEARANCE
The clearance may be claimed from Ms. May on Monday, November 17, 2014. Payment is a requirement.
EXTRA MONEY
Just in case the group decides to watch the famous acrobatic show, please bring P2,500 extra. This is 50%
of the regular rate. Extra money may also be needed for potential expenses on drinks during meals and for
snacks as well.

PRE-DEPARTURE
1. Be aware of the baggage allowance on both carriers, checked in and carry-on baggage. Please
refer to travel agents guidelines below.
2. Prepare a backpack with overnight clothes, toiletries, medicines that will be brought to Xian
province. Big luggage will be left at the hotel in Beijing.
3. Clearly label all suitcases with full name, address, and telephone number.
4. Pack only what are needed. Again, refer to our travel agents suggested to wear and to bring. Be
guided by the given checklist for things to bring. See PACK IT checklist below.
5. Eat before going to the airport.
AT THE AIRPORT
1.
Strictly be at the airport 3 hours before the flight. Your group leader will meet you at the gate.
The color coded group checks-in as soon as the team members are complete.
2.
Be ready to present passport and tickets. Make sure these are within easy reach.
3.
Individually check in at the airport counter. Check that the name on the ticket matches with that on
the passport and in the computer.
4.
Secure the boarding pass before leaving the check-in counter.
5.
Always attend to your personal belongings. The school will not be liable for any loss.
6.
Always stay with the tour group. Inform your group leader if you need to leave the group. No one
leaves the group unaccompanied and without permission. Buddy system will be oberved at all
times.
7.
Be sure to attend to your washroom / personal needs before boarding the plane.
8.
Be with the tour group on boarding the plane.
9.
Prepare the ticket and boarding pass for boarding.
10. For those who experience nausea during long travels, be sure to take your medication an hour
before the flight.
DURING THE FLIGHT
1.
Occupy the seat assigned in the boarding pass. Avoid transferring or exchanging seats.
2.
Ask for assistance in putting your luggage in the specified area.
3.
Strictly follow instructions from the aircraft crew.
4.
Turn off electronic gadgets when needed.
5.
Avoid unnecessary standing or walking during flight.
6.
Always inform your group leader and buddy before going to the aircraft lavatory.
UPON ARRIVAL
1.
Ask for assistance in getting your carry-on luggage.
2.
Stay with the tour group while exiting the plane.
3.
Retrieve your luggage from the specified area. Check that you have all of your check-in
belongings.
4.
Be ready to present your passport and visa at the immigration counter.
5.
Wait for the tour guide and transport to the hotel.
AT THE HOTEL
1.
Briefly assemble for the confirmation of assigned rooms and roommates.
2.
Get the room key from the teacher-in-charge.
3.
Upon the teachers permission, you may already bring all your belongings to your room.
4.
Prepare your camera, tour booklet, writing materials, and personal needs for the day tour.
Laptop/tablet will be used for the nightly class sessions.
DURING THE TOUR
1.
Make sure to always apply insect repellent lotion/spray before the day tour.
2.
Always stay with the tour group. Ask permission from the teacher if you need to leave the group.
Buddy system should be observed.
3.
Always attend to your personal belongings. The school will not be liable for any loss.
4.
Be sure to ask permission before taking photos.
5.
Listen attentively to the tour guide. Avoid making unnecessary noise.
6.
Remember to ask meaningful questions to add to your information gathering.
7.
Always refer to the given tour booklet for the tasks to be accomplished for the day.
8.
Take down notes religiously using your tour booklet.
9.
School bonnet/beanies, scarf and school IDs should be worn at all times.

DURING MEALTIME
1.
Always stay with the tour group. Ask permission from the teacher if you need to leave the group.
Buddy system should be observed.
2.
Be conscious of the types of food offered. Inform your teacher immediately if you have some
eating concerns.
3.
Observe proper decorum during meal times. Avoid making unnecessary noise.
4.
Take only the amount of serving you can finish.
END OF THE DAY
1. Upon arrival at the hotel, you may take your rest within the given time. Use this time as well to
shower and change before dinner time.
2. Rest time may also be partially used to finalize the information gathered from the day tour. This is
in preparation for the nightly class discussions.
3. Be sure to attend and actively participate in the small group discussions to be facilitated by your
teachers.
