ELA
Reading- This week in Reading we put
some of our strategies for reading
nonfiction to use with our own choice of
books. In addition, we had a nonfiction
text feature scavenger hunt.

Writing-We started writing our

Paragraph of the week using a creative

writing topic. What would you do if all the
streets were rivers?
Word Study: We have been working with
Words Their Way. Students are given
ample time each day during class to work
on their WTW activities. If they do not
finish their activities by the following
week for their test day, then it is
homework.

Notes
The trees have lost their leaves and the days
are shorter and colder. Please make sure that
your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather and has the right garments to wear
for recess. We are so excited about or
veterans wall. We are creating a wall of
veterans that our students know and some
veterans are those who have fallen. Thank you
to all of our Veterans! We are truly honored
and privileged. Have a great weekend!
Thank You,
Mrs. Linda Kolacki

MATH- We finished up with factor

trees this week and began the concept of
Prime and Composite numbers.
It is essential for your child to practice math
facts everyday (+,-, x, ). Math facts are the
building blocks of math!

Social Studies- This week in social

studies we discussed the importance of
different cultural regions within an urban
setting and the settings of rural and
suburb.

Student Corner:

This week we did lots of things like say

our poems in front of our class. Next, we
did a Star Test in the computer lab. Last
but not least, we switched seats. Thats it
for this week so bye and I cant wait until
I can write to you guys again.
