Where Minds Can Grow!

This Week
I am happy to report that our sloth has been
completed! It is awesome to see both mom and
baby hanging in our hallway on display! We are still
adding a few finishing touches to our writing, but
we are happy they are finally up!
On Friday, our friends voted for our next animal to
begin learning about. The choices were anaconda,
red-eyed tree frogs and blue-morpho butterflies.
I wont spoil the surprise on which won! You will
have to ask your child and/or check out the blog to
find out!
During shared reading, weve been reading fairy
tales (comparing and contrasting different versions
of the same story) and working with beginning
sounds. Weve played some great matching games
on the smartboard that are now a part of our
smartboard center! The kids can play them during
their center time (instead of just drawing).
Miss Dykes, our AU intern, has been with us a few
weeks now. Shes been an amazing help in the
classroom! This week she took over our calendar
for the day. This was her first part of our
schedule to begin teaching. Shes done an amazing
job! I will give her one part of our day each week
until shes teaching it all for her two weeks of full
time teaching!

Monday! We will begin delivering on Monday and
trust me, it takes us a whole week of center time
to deliver!

Next Week
We will begin learning all about our next animal for
theme! We will complete a Can, Have, Are chart
as we research!
For shared reading, we will be completing a short,
one-week author study on Karma Wilson! Karma
Wilson wrote the Bear booksBear Snores On,
Bears Loose Tooth, etc! We also discuss animal
hibernation, sequencing and story elements with
Mrs. Wilsons books! Shes one of my favorites (I
think I may say that about all of our authors we do
an author study on! )!
