DRECP comment letter: David, Lynn and I all agreed the letter is on target and well done.
Paula has not looked at it, but supports moving forward with it. No specific comments from any
of us. Shaun will go ahead and do final edit and David will submit on behalf of MNPC.
Star Party: Astronomers have given David possible dates. He has checked with Preserve but
wants to check in with board. No group campsite dates possible in March, April or May. June
13th works for the astronomers and the group campsite is available on 12th and 13th. Might be a
good option since it would avoid a lot of other activities in the spring. David also tried to find a
fall date. October 16th and 17th was confirmed and David tentatively set them aside. NPCA is
sponsoring a big cleanup on the Colorado River on the morning of the 17th.
Dark Sky: David has made contact with an individual connected with Dark Sky parks and it
looks like they are interested. Lynn has some experience with Great Basin and is concerned
about their experience and the failure to achieve the designation there. She agrees we should
pursue, and should talk to the superintendent about.
Restoration event: No board members attended due to NPCA board meeting in Death Valley.
David will contact Sid to get a report on the event.
