Dear Ms. Sich,
I am applying for the position as a Practical Nursing Student Graduate on 5 west unit at North York
General Hospital. It would be an honor to have the opportunity to work on this unit and working with the
multidisciplinary health-care team as I have during consolidation there. The team on 5 west promote the
many facets of health in an enthusiastic manner and their team spirit mirrors what nursing is all about.
The reason why I have chosen 5 West at North York General Hospital is because of the impact that nurses
have on each individual patient on this floor. Being able to work with patients who would like to be
discharged enables the health team to work with each patient and help them to achieve their goals on a
daily basis. As a consolidating student on 5 west it was rewarding being able to see patients progressing
and ultimately being discharged on a regular basis. The role of the nurse can really be seen on this unit
and there is nothing like knowing that you were apart of patients achieving their goals. Because of the
variety of patients there are also many nursing skills that I can learn or improve on by working on this
floor which is important in a new career as a nurse.
As part of my clinical placement experiences, I have exceptional interpersonal and comprehension skills.
Also, with experience from various units in different hospitals I used my knowledge, skills & judgment to
provide care in the most effective manner while being conscious of the fact that each individual is
