QUESTION 7: Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel that you
have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
PRELIMINARY TASK:
In my preliminary task I was given the role of the cameraman and the editor. Many
errors had occurred the first few times as I was new to both tasks and was confused
on how to handle both situations. However, after a couple of tries, I was able to
confidently capture the scene without breaking the 180 degree rule and edit shot
reverse shot and match on action into it.
WHAT IVE LEARNT:
I am now more confident than I was for the preliminary, and have also learnt how to
add effect, music/sounds and colouring. As my production only had one main
character throughout the production, we did not include shot reverse shot, despite
the fact we did not use it; we still know how to put it in a production if we were to
include it. Working in a group of 4 was a lot of fun as we had easy communication
amongst each other and teamwork was always helpful. At first, I did not know how to
edit as I had never taken media before, but over the months I have seen progression
from the time of my preliminary and realized that I have learnt a lot of techniques
from my coursework. I am now aware of the common guideline like, dont break the
180 degree rule, lighting must be good...etc. Generally after practice, everything had
fallen into place and now I am self-assured that I have the capabilities of making a
sequence without any trouble.
