Announcements:
Please continue to check your
childs Rocket Folder every
night and initial his or her
behavior chart.
Curriculum Night for first
grade will be on Tuesday,
August 25th. Dinner will be
served at 5:00 in the MPR and
teachers will begin presenting
at 5:30. If you plan on eating
dinner please remember to
RSVP.
DRES restaurant night will be
at Uncle Maddios Pizza on
Tuesday, September 1st.
There is no school on Monday,
September 7th.
Progress reports go home
Thursday, September 10th.
Fall Picture Day will be on
Thursday, September 24th.

A Peek at Our Week

Reading/Language Arts: This week we will be
on unit one, week two in our Wonders reading
series. Our phonics skill for this week is short i.
Our spelling words for this week will follow the
short i spelling pattern. In writing we will focus
on word order and ending punctuation marks.
We will be continuing our Daily Five reading
centers. The Daily Five will be explained in
more detail on Curriculum Night.
Math: We are continuing addition with
numbers 0-10. We will practice solving addition
word problems by drawing pictures and using
manipulatives.
Science: We are beginning a unit on plants.
This week we will plant brassica seeds and
observe them as they grow.
