Experiment (5): Flow Through A Venturi Meter:
Objective: Determination Of The Pressure Distribution Along The Meter & Comparing It With
Ideal Pressure Distribution.
Equipment: Venturi Meter, Power Supply,
Piezometer Tubes, Hydraulic Bench & Stop
Watch.
Theory: Bernoulli’s Equation & Continuity
Equation.
From applying Bernoulli’s Equation &
Continuity Equation we get:

Sample Of Calculation:
V = 15 litre Time = 43.7 seconds.
Q= V/T= 15x10-3/43.7= 3.43x10-4 m3/s.
U2= Q/A= 3.43x10-4 / (π/4)x(26x10-3)2 = 1.7 m/s.
U22/2g = 1.72/2x9.8 = 0.149

Comments:
The error is very acceptable & might be because:
1) Impurity of water.
2) Natural human error.
3) The imperfection of the instrument used.
