Target Audience

What is target audience?
A target audience is a particular group of people which a
service or product or a film is aimed at.

Our target audience?
Our target audience is aimed at the ages 16 to 25, as the
members in my group and I had researched on other
horror/thriller films. We had found out that majority of the
films we had viewed such as Final Destination, were all 15 at
least. Another reason why we had chosen 16 to 25 as our target
audience is because teenagers who are that age and above, tend
to understand the narrative of the horror films they watch
without watching it again. So at that age teenagers are old
enough to have a clear understand on what is actually going on
in the film. We did not pick a lower target audience such as
12 because we had felt that most of the people who are under
the age 15 were not mature enough yet to watch a
horror/thriller film and they may not understand the narrative
of the film.

Gender
As a group we had decided that our production will be aimed at
both genders, male and female. This is mainly because the two
genders will be able to relate to the film with all sorts of
different views and opinions. While we were looking at horror
movies we had thought about the gender target audience and it
had seemed that horror films were mostly attracting to males
as the factor violence and blood had attracted males as a
simple stereotype. Another stereotype view is that it was
easier to scare the females from horror/thriller movies. So as
a group we had decided to change the common gender target
audience and make it attractive to males and females. Our
protagonist is a female which will make females feel more
comfortable, as another judgemental view females will not be
expecting extreme violence and no gory scenes.

Ethnicity
The production which we will be producing will not be targeted
at a particular race. People from all sorts of ethnicity
groups are more than welcome to watch horror/thriller
productions, but however there is a high chance that the
people who live in England are most likely to watch the
production as the location is set in London. As it is set in
London there is a possibility that that it will be viewed
commonly by the population of Britain. To simply sum up there
is no particular ethnicity group, which we are aiming.

Socio Economic Group
The socio economic group that we aimed our production at is E
to C1. This is because our target audience are mainly
students, who come under E as they are mostly in education and
also the people that are aged from 20 to 30 who mainly come
under C2 and C1 as they wont be earning large amount of
disposable income.
