As Days
Dear Parents,
Upcoming Events:
Grandparents Day Nov. 18th
Christmas ProgramDec. 20th @ 6:30
Humility is the characteristic we are focusing on in November with our Colossians 3:12 -17 memory verses. I LS Swimming lessons begin-Jan. 10th
know we are "supposed" to focus on Thanksgiving in November but I believe it's ironic after yesterday's
Blacktail Ski Day Feb. 16th
historic election that humility be our action word.
What does humility mean to you? We discussed this in chapel on Monday and there were a wide variety of
definitions that the students and staff offered. It actually means to be made low or to have a lower position
than deserved. When we think less highly of ourselves and lift others above us, that shows true humility.
Giving others preference and putting others first is counter intuitive for all of us. Only the Holy Spirit can
truly help us follow Christ's example of humility so we are asking Him to help us in this trait.
It will be telling how this new administration allows humility to shine in the coming months. A gracious
and kind approach is much more helpful in the current climate we are experiencing in our nation. Would
you join me in praying for those who are angry, disillusioned, frustrated and in shock today? Our only
hope is in God alone but the characteristics we are focusing on at MVCA will go a long way in healing our
broken land. Thanks for joining us as we continue to focus on compassion, kindness and now, humility.
We are excited to host Grandparents Day in a week or so. We love hearing stories from our elders and
sharing the biblical truths we enjoy at MVCA. We want to be intentional about sharing our mission and
gleaning wisdom from those who have experienced more life than the rest of us. It's important to me to
continue to be a student of history and learn new things that can help me grow in my walk with Jesus.
Please let the office know if you are planning to join us or bring any grandparents (real or adopted) so we
can plan for the half day. Please, remember that we will dismiss after lunch at 12:30
Thanks for all you do to help us provide a Christ centered quality education developing life-long servant
leaders here at MVCA. (Do I say that too much?) Hopefully all our decisions are filtered through this mission statement so we can reflect this in all aspects of our school. If you have questions or concerns, please
don't hesitate to contact me. May God richly bless each of you!

Mission Valley Christian Academy hosted Army Chief Warrant Officer Brian Piercy, Miss Withams cousin, from Kalispell on Monday, November 7th for Veterans Day.
Brian has been a member of the Army National Guard in the Kalispell unit since 2006 and has been deployed several times to Kuwait. He is a Black hawk helicopter
pilot and also serves in Army intelligence.
Brian shared his experiences with the students in stories, a slide show
and answering questions about his time overseas. He is married and a
father to two daughters and works as a mortgage broker at First Interstate Bank in Kalispell in his civilian occupation. Brian also serves as a
member of the Army Honor Guard for deceased veterans. Brian is rated
to fly fixed wing aircraft as well as helicopters. After the presentation and
question and answer time, the students were able to pray for Brian and
all the members of the military for their safety and encouragement.
The students and staff at MVCA also partnered with the GI Go Fund to
raise money for veterans with the Jeans for Troops campaign. Seventeen
students and staff paid $5 to wear blue jeans to school and so $85 will be
sent to help veterans receive services in gaining education, employment
and health care. Over 80% of all funds received go directly to the soldiers
needs in transitioning back to civilian life and only 7% is used for administrative needs.
